Tony Romo, Elite Choke Artist

Tony Romo is one of the few Dallas Cowboys who does not suck on the team. Instead he chokes. I’m talking like Tera Patrick porn star type of choking. If the AVN makes an award for best choke scene in a professional sports game, Romo would be the perennial winner. He makes choking an art form.

There is no denying that Romo can sling that pig skin around the field just like there is no denying that at the game’s biggest moment he will either throw a pick or fumble. It’s a given. It’s like watching a horror movie and you know the teenager is about to be killed and you yell at the TV for him/her to run because you know what is going to happen. That is Tony Romo. You can scream at him not to throw it into triple coverage at the biggest point of the game and he still does.

Romo threw for over 500 yards and 5 touchdowns against the Broncos, but no one will remember that. They will remember the interception he threw that cost Dallas the game. It was a great game to watch and it was an epic battle between quarterbacks. Romo had 3 receivers with over 100 yards each and he spread the ball around to 8 different receivers. Well 9 if you include the pick to Danny Trevathan in the 4th quarter that led to Manning running out the clock longer enough for Denver’s kicker to seal the victory.

Romo is one of the few 100 million dollar quarterbacks in the league, a designation for the most elite QB’s in the game. The question that is always asked is, “Is Romo an elite quarterback or an elite choke artist?” He certainly can put up astronomical stats in line with some of the very best quarterbacks in the NFL, but he can also cost his team the game with ill advised passes and untimely fumbles. His Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde personalities drive Cowboy fans crazy and leave others questions his legitimacy as a top tier NFL quarterback.

How will fans remember Romo when he finally stops blowing games, I mean playing football? Will he be remembered for the cannon of an arm he has or will he be remembered for choking in the biggest moments of games?

You don’t need to watch “Debbie Does Dallas” to see who chokes the best. Just watch Romo in the 4th quarter. And just like watching your favorite porn actress “perform”, Romo doesn’t disappoint.
