The Ravens Embarrassed the Dolphins on Prime Time

Edgar Allen Poe’s raven once said, “Nevermore” and after last night’s beating of the Dolphins, the raven now quotes the Dolphins, “Never score.” The Ravens embarrassed the Dolphins on Prime Time. A 40-0 beat down which sounds just as bad as it truly was. The Miami Dolphins were better off not even flying up to Baltimore and just forfeiting the game.

Coming after two emotional come from behind victories against the Falcons and Jets, the Dolphins headed into Baltimore looking to secure it;s first win there in years. Instead they found misery and utter defeat.

The high that Matt Moore was on after leading the Dolphins from 14 points down against the Jets quickly evaporated like the pocket around him. Of all of the nights for the offensive line to not show up, being on prime time television was the worst time. The offensive line continued its dismal display of blocking. Unable to keep pressure off Moore or opening a hole for Jay Ajayi to run through.

Jay Ajayi had his worst showing of the season. After gaining 21 yards on his first carry, Ajayi finished the game with 23 yards on 13 carries. Matt Moore wasn’t any more effective himself. He threw for 176 yards on 24 for 44 attempts with two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns. The whole offense was out of sync the entire game. Missed blitz pickups, bad passes, wrong routes run. You name it the Dolphins’ offense did it.

The normally stout and reliable defense was anything but against the Ravens. Normally level headed Kiko Alonso was flagged with a personal foul penalty when he hit a sliding Joe Flacco with his shoulder knocking off Flacco’s helmet and leaving Flacco with a concussion and a cut ear which required stitches. Normally when Ryan Mallet is in the game it is feasting time for opposing defenses, but Mallet only threw the ball 7 times for 20 yards.

The damage for the Ravens was down on the ground. Alex Collins led all rushers with 113 yards on 18 carries.

The Dolphins rarely lose this ugly. The way the Ravens embarrassed the Dolphins on prime time made it worse.

The Dolphins next play the Oakland Raiders at home. They have a lot of reflecting to do as well as make adjustments before the next game.
