Bolt disses Carl Lewis

Usain Bolt has proved himself to be the most dominant sprinter in Olympic history. This after the Jamaican sweep in the 200-meter race where Bolt claimed the double double following his 100 meter win with a victory in the 200  just as he did four years ago.

After collecting his fifth career Olympic gold medal and second of these  London Games, Bolt was asked about the greatest sprinters of all time, among them Jesse Owens and Carl Lewis. Bolt showed love to Owens but ripped Lewis to shreds.

“Carl Lewis, I have no respect for him,” Bolt said. “The things he says about the track athletes are very downgrading. I think he’s just looking for attention because nobody really talks about him.

“I’ve lost all respect for him. All respect.”

Bolt was then asked what caused him to lose respect for Lewis.

“All drug stuff,” he said.

When Bolt captivated the world  in Beijing by winning three gold medals, Lewis pointed out  Bolt’s remarkable improvement  in the 100 meters, from 10.03 to 9.69 in the course of a year.

“If you don’t question that in a sport that has the reputation it has right now, you’re a fool,” Lewis said.

Bolt is hugely popular and well liked all over the world particularly here in the United States, i don’t find his slight of Lewis out of bounds at at all. He is a prideful man and as he indicated he and his fellow countrymen work hard to achieve what they did.

Never was their dominance more evident than  Thursday, when the tiny island nation swept the 200, with Bolt taking gold, Yohan Blake silver and Warren Weir bronze. A proud night for Jamaica. So maybe Bolt pulled a Michael Jordan by ripping Lewis on a night, when he should have been beaming with national pride and celebrating a major victory . To the critics i say, so what !! Usain Bolt is king, he took offense to Lewis’ comments and clearly let the world know. Will those comments hurt his pocket and endorsement opportunities? I doubt it.

The real story of the “beef” between Harper, Wells and Jones

This morning on the Today Show, Lolo Jones was interviewed after yet another loss in the Olympics 100 meter hurdle. She got emotional when talking about a media scrutiny surfaced about her two days before her run. You can read that story here

Here’s the video of Jones on the Today Show

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

At another studio the winners of silver and bronze in the 100m hurdle Kellie Wells and Dawn Harper appeared with Michelle Beadle, and spoke about their discontent with they way they have not been covered the last four years in contrast to how Lolo Jones has been covered.  Here’s their conversation

Did they come off a little catty? Yes. The looks, the curling of the lips, the “boom…just like that” at the end, weren’t necessary. But Harper and Wells have a case, that I will get to shortly.

There’s been a lot of dialogue on social media on who is salty, who is to blame and why is Lolo Jones crying about attention. But I would like to get to what is the root of this whole discussion. Black skin vs. Light skin in the African American community.

Before you scrunch up your face and say “ugh…here we go talking about race again”, don’t forget that the two parties in question are Black. The media will take what they feel is the more marketable face and run with it. Lolo Jones has been homeless. She’s been on tv and was asked about her relationships and why she is still a virgin. She’s gotten the big endorsements and the “airtime”. Wells and Harper haven’t, and they are Olympic medalist, while Jones has struggled in her last two Olympiads. You heard Harper said she has had struggles to, and her story was pushed to the side.

I do believe it’s an issue of the more marketable look or face being put in front of the story. This is the Anna Kournikova thing happening in track. Lolo Jones can’t control that the media wants to focus on her (positively or negatively). Kellie Wells and Dawn Harper may or may not know this, but the hate towards them should be tempered in my opinion.

Hopefully this latest schism can begin the dialogue about whether or not media gravitates towards the pretty lighter skinned face, rather than the pretty darker skinned face.

Sprinter sent home after meeting with wife

Much has been reported about the Olympic Village in this and every olympics and what goes on there. It’s basically an orgy. Hundreds of single men and women, who for the most part are all in their athletic prime of their lives. Housed up in a dorm type setting for a couple weeks with nothing but downtime between training and their competition, have nothing else to do but sex and sex some more. Hundreds of thousands of condoms were sent to the village in hopes that the men and women will protect them selves no matter the cost.

Kim Collins is a sprinter from St. Kitts and Nevis, a tiny island nation in the Caribbean. He carried the flag during the opening ceremonies.  He was set to perform in his 5th olympiad this summer participating in the 100 meter dash. Unfortunately he won’t get to do so, because he’s been sent home. Why? Because he may have spent too much time with his wife and kids, huddled up in a hotel away from the Olympic village, which is against team rules.

He tweeted the news to his followers

“My fans. I won’t lie. Won’t be running later tonight.”

Another message read

“Even men in prison get their wives to visit.”

Kim is still eligible to perform in the 200 meter and the 4×100 meter, but hasn’t indicated if he will as of yet.

If he clearly broke team and country rules by visiting his wife for an extended period of time, then he has to deal with the punishment. They could have sent him home and not let him have the opportunity to participate in the other two events. However we could look at why he stayed away for those few days. Was it because of the lamp breaking that was going on at the village? Is something wrong with his wife or kids?

We may never know.

Serena Williams wins first singles gold, c-walk’s in delight

Serena Williams has done what not many women before her have done in the world of Tennis. She won gold.

She beat Maria “Covergirl” Sharapova in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 to win her first ever gold medal in women’s singles.

She’s also the 1st woman to win all four Grand Slams and a gold medal in both singles AND doubles.

And she’s not done yet. Sister Venus and her have a doubles gold medal to defend later this afternoon.

After the victory, Serena breaks out into a dance made popular by Snoop Dogg, called the “C-Walk”. Here’s footage courtesy of SB Nation.

Don’t look for Gabby Douglas on a Wheaties box

She’s taken her talents to Corn Flakes!

According to Sports Business Journal, Douglas signed a sponsorship deal with Kellogg’s after winning the gold medal. She had already signed on to do the Kellogg’s Tour of Champions, a 40-city tour where she and other Olympians will perform for screaming throngs of tweens and their parents. (Parents, buy ear plugs. You’ll thank me later.)

GD is set to make millions over the next four years in endorsements. The Corn Flakes deal was her second major endorsement deal, after signing with Proctor and Gamble before the London games.

Not bad for a girl who was not even remotely looked at getting a gold in London because of Jordyn Wieber.

Go Gabby!

Serena Williams advances to singles gold medal match

All that moaning for nothing.

I’m speaking of course about  Victoria Azarenka, known for her tennis skills, and her orgasmic moan each time she hits the ball. On Friday afternoon, Serena Williams vanquished Victoria and her moaning, as she beat her in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. Williams will now advance to play Maria Sharapova in the gold medal match. She is 8-2 versus Sharapova.

Team USA Basketball gets underway in Las Vegas

The regular is season now over. The champions have been crowned. The NBA draft is done. Free agency is in full swing.

As basketball teams look towards next season to make another title run, most of their star players have converged on Las Vegas to tune up for the 2012 London Olympics.

Lebron James, Chris Paul, Rudy Gay and an unidentified player are all smiles at practice.

Dwyane Wade will miss 2012 Olympics

He made the right decision. Or should I say the doctors made the right decision for him.

Miami Heat captain Dwayne Wade will sit out this summer and not take part in the 2012 Olympics in London.

He confirmed today that he will have any necessary surgery on his knees and rest up for what many think can be a repeat bid to win an NBA title with the “Heatles”.

Wade informed USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo and coach Mike Krzyzewski Thursday that he wasn’t healthy enough to play for Team USA.

Wade played through the injury in the playoffs and still managed to average 22.6 points per game during the NBA Finals.

I think it’s the right thing to do. He’s already got a gold medal, and for an athlete who’s sports is yearly, championships are probably more important than gold.

Nike tweets USA Basketball Team Pic

I will admit this looks nice. Intimidating. Patriotic. And just plain ole mean.

This picture was tweeted out by Nike, giving us a glimpse at the new uni’s that the team will wear in London this summer.

Notice Lebron James positioned in the forefront of all the other players. I’m just saying. No question who is the best player in the NBA…with or without a ring. For now anyway.
