James returning to Cleveland is a great myth

The summer of 2014.
Never has a summer of free agency in the NBA been so highly anticipated since 2010, and the main reason it is so anticipated is because of the same characters who made the summer of 2010 so crazy.

Dwyane Wade.

Chris Bosh.

and of course him. Lebron James. You all remember this right?

The words “take my talents to South Beach” will forever live on in the annals of sports history.
But even though everyone will take that quote and will run with it forever, it was the words that he uttered after, that really hit home and make the most sense now. Yes especially now, when everyone and their moms wants to talk about the Summer of 2014, and if Lebron James will bolt from the team he sacrificed and gave up so much to come and play for.

What sacrifices you ask? We can get into that later.

But it’s these words that should shut up everyone who dares to question rather if Lebron James will decide to come back to the Miami Heat after he opts out (for more money) next year.

I feel like this…this is gonna give me the best opportunity to, to win, and to win for multiple years. Um, and not only just to win in the regular season or just to win 5 games in a row or 3 games in a row. Um, I want to be able to win championships and I feel like I can compete down there

King James

There. That right there ladies and gentlemen, is why the talk and speculation should end about Lebron bolting for anywhere next year. Especially the talk about him going back to Cleveland.
Why must we do this to ourselves? I ask my brothers and sisters in the media is there not enough to talk about?

The Heat won a 2nd consecutive championship in their third try. The team, largely in tact will return for another run at it this year. Ray. Mario. Even the Birdman is coming back. Sure the Nets got better, on paper. Yes Derrick Rose is coming back (we think). And the Pacers will be hungrier than ever.
The competition will be stiff. Maybe that’s why folks are already foaming at the mouth and fingertips to talk and write about Lebron heading somewhere else next year.
earned

Ok so the Lakers will have a lot of cap space. Do you think Lebron watches how Dwight Howard jetted off to Houston, because of a difference of, well everything with the Lakers and says to himself “oooh yeah I want some of that drama”?

Word is Carmelo may leave New York. Yeah right. And Lebron will just jump right in his place right? Ha.
Just because Carmelo’s wife LaLa has a budding career in LA, doesn’t mean he’s willing to give up the bright lights of Madison Square Garden for the silicone and weave of Los Angeles (Clippers or Lakers).

And then there’s Cleveland. Smh (that means “shaking my head”). Lebron James going back to Cleveland is like the guy who leaves his longterm girlfriend for another chick who gives and spoils him with everything. And then one day he decides to go back to that longterm girlfriend, just because he’s tired of being spoiled. Yeah…that happens everyday (<----sarcasm)

Here's what Cleveland has to offer Lebron this time around: Mike Brown as Coach, a broke down Andrew Bynum, a fragile Kyrie Irving, along with Anderson Varejao, Tyler Zeller, Alonzo Gee, rookie No. 1 pick Anthony Bennett, free agent pickup Jarrett Jack ( who was very vocal about the way Lebron left Cleveland and the partnering of the super stars in South Beach), Tristan Thompson, and Dion Waters.

Is that more enticing than winning more rings in Miami?

We all must prepare ourselves for this craziness starting in October and all the way through June.
God forbid if the Heat don't win a championship. The noise will get so loud that dogs would start howling.

Nevertheless it has already started, and will only continue to get louder through the season. And I've got to do all I can to keep the noise away from me.
Lebron will not go back to Cleveland or anywhere for that matter folks. Not right now. Try again in about 5-8 years.

Lakers Look Foolish Chasing Dwight

I wonder if Jerry Buss was rolling in his grave when the Lakers unveiled a billboard imploring Dwight Howard to “Stay.” The Lakers were one of the few organizations in the NBA where they never had to beg players to stay or come to the Lakers. Their name and championships were enough to convince any player to join them, but now they’re acting like a desperate lover trying to hold onto someone who was never good for them in the first place and looking desperate is never a good look. Dwight Howard, Ryan Lochte make GQ “Least Influential” list

I thought I was the only one who wondered what the hell Ryan Lochte did to garner so much attention. Sure he went to Florida. Sure he went to the Olympics and got some medals.

But the way that he was hyped up going into the Olympics and during it was something, well to be quite honest, something we’ve seen before. You see…Ryan Lochte is good looking and white.

Yep. That’s what I’m calling. Good looking and white. If you’ve got those two going for you, you can succeed in America. And before you pull out your race card cards, I wonder the same thing about Lolo Jones. She’s good looking and light skin black! There. I’ve tackled both sides of the race debate.

GQ Magazine released it’s list of The Lease Influential People of 2012 and Ryan Lochte sits at #8. Dwight Howard sits at #4. Other sports personalities on the list include former Saints Def. Coordinator Greg Williams, Lance Armstrong, Keith Olberman (although he’s a former sports personality), former Mets skipper Bobby Valentine, New York Knicks owner James Dolan, and Hulk Hogan.

See the full list here. See Ryan Lochte show off his UF education below.

SB Honey- Dwight Howard’s baby mom’s hot photo shoot

Not it’s not Royce Reed!

It’s the “secret” baby mama, Hope Alexa showing off her assets in a photo shoot which looks like it’s for some magazine of sorts. We’ve seen this before, except with child.

She has taken care of herself as you see in the pics. I’m wondering if she will be making any appearances at Laker games now that Howard is in La-La Land.

Kobe Bryant Says Current Lakers Team is “The Most Talented..”

…that he’s ever been around”.

I knew that headline would grab you. And that was the point.

“On its face, it’s the best talent I’ve been around,” said Bryant, via the Los Angeles Times. “Whether that translates into winning a championship, that remains to be seen. But just on paper, you’re obviously talking about defensive players of the years, MVPs, All-Stars. You’re talking about a myriad of things where guys are on top of their position and have been at the top of their position.”

Kobe makes a great point about it translating into a championship remains to be seen. Everyone thought the 2010-2011 Miami Heat had all the talent in the world to win it all. But obviously the talent, and a mental lapse by Lebron James, kept them from winning it all and instead the Dallas Mavericks were crowned champs.

I’m thinking Shaq, Robert, Derek and the rest of the boys are not too pleased.

“Fake Smilin” Dwight Howard Teaches Ellen How to Dougie

Ole fake smiling Dwight Howard made a visit to Ellen Degeneres dance floor recently and showed us that he has dance moves. Maybe he’ll try to put them on display at the Lakers home opener.

I don’t think Kobe will have any of that.

Dwight Howard Is Annoyingly Singing to Fans

I’m not buying it. I know #12 is a dude with personality and that is something that is missing from today’s athlete. They either don’t want to show it or don’t have any. But when you string along a franchise for a year, lie to our faces about how you didn’t say anything to management about wanting your coach fired, and don’t show up for your own basketball camp in O-Town…you fall into the a-hole category with me.

The only thing good that this whole Dwight-mare did was take a lot of the negative light off of Lebron. But Lebron is such a much bigger star than him, that there is still a little dark cloud that will continue to hang over LBJ, at least until he wins another championship.

But in the meantime, #12 is happy getting adjusted in La La land, getting acclimated to his new surroundings, team and coaches.

While we wait about 18 days before camps open, he drops this on us. I am not amused.

Brooklyn Nets opening new arena with some help

Things are good for the Brooklyn Nets right now. They’ve got their new arena, new logo and new city.

To open things up in that new arena, their part owner and hip hop legend Jay Z will host not one, not two, but three concerts celebrating the new franchise in “B-K”.

Should be an exciting time for the Brooklyn faithful. Will they have Dwight Howard on the roster by then?

Stay tuned…

Adidas cancels the “Shackle Shoe”; Are black people too sensitive?

The internet was buzzing yesterday with the picture of a new shoe set to be released by Adidas. As you can see in the picture, the JS Roundhouse Mid created quite a controversy for it’s “slavery” type of design.

Adidas released statements yesterday offering an explanation to the shoe design and the designer.

“The design of the JS Roundhouse Mid is nothing more than the designer Jeremy Scott’s outrageous and unique take on fashion and has nothing to do with slavery. Jeremy Scott is renowned as a designer whose style is quirky and lighthearted … Any suggestion that this is linked to slavery is untruthful.”

and

Adidas on ‘shackles’: We apologize if people are offended by the design & we are withdrawing our plans to make them available.

Call me naive, but I don’t believe the designer had slavery in mind when he made the shoe. I’m not saying that I don’t see how thoughts of slavery could be associated when you look at the shoe. But to say that he set out to do that, and a company like Adidas with high profile African American clients like Dwight Howard, Derek Rose and RGIII would green light the idea based on that is kind of ludicrous.

Have you seen how fashion has been lately? Jeans, dresses, hats, shoes, even glasses (hello Russell, Dwyane and Lebron) have all just been for a lack of a better term, weird. Of course I use that term because not in my taste. If its in your taste then you would wear it.

Fashion is no different than art and music. Designers will push the envelope when in the lab to see who can come up with the next outrageous design. This is what happened with this shoe design.

Is it reminiscent of slavery? Yes. Can the shoe sell without the shackles? Maybe. Was it done on purpose to remind millions of blacks about slavery? NO.

Orlando Magic fire Stan Van Gundy and release Otis Smith

In a move totally done to keep Dwight Howard in a Magic uniform for at least another 5 yrs or so, Orlando Magic CEO Alex Martin announced today that the team has relieved Stan Van Gundy of his coaching duties, and GM Otis Smith has mutually agreed to leave as well.

“On behalf of the DeVos Family, we sincerely appreciate and thank Otis and Stan for all that they have done on and off the floor for the Orlando Magic,” Martins said. “They both brought die-hard dedication and an unmatched work ethics on a daily basis”.

Much will be speculated and talked about in the next few days regarding this move that everyone knew was eventually coming. One could only think that this could come back to bite the Magic in the butt if Dwight doesn’t resign there next summer.

Stay tuned…
