Derrick Rose Will Not Help Recruit Carmelo Anthony

rose1
Chicago Bulls former all star and former league MVP Derrick Rose will not recruit Carmelo Anthony or any star that is a free agent come Tuesday July 1.
Seems that Derrick is quite fine in the role of player and only that, as he says “it’s not his job” to recruit players to the Bulls.

“My thing is if they want to come, they can come,” Rose said.”I love Melo’s game,” Rose said. “He’s a great player. Takes the game serious. He’s consistent. He shoots the ball great. I love his heart.
“I can play with anybody, no matter who it is. I believe I can play with anyone if they step on the court with me.”

I’m not sure what to take from this. Does Rose have a point? Should he leave that totally up to management? Or should he at least be willing to talk to potential free agents interested in coming to Chicago? Just earlier this season, we heard of his team mate Joakim Noah pitching Carmelo at the All Star game.

Whichever you think right, Rose is definitely a different type of cat. One who marches to the beat of his own drum for sure.

Freeman and Fox Hoops Post Game Show debuts tonight

PostgameShowFreemanFox

Basketball season couldn’t have started at a better time right?

With the Dolphins on a (not 1, not 2, not 3) 4 game losing streak, and the Hurricanes lethargically moving towards a big showdown with Florida State this weekend, there was no better time than to get a fix from the 2x defending NBA Champion Miami Heat.

Tonight begins their season of title defense and an unprecedented attempt at a 3-peat championship.

And who better to start things off right than the Chicago Bulls, led by a rested and fully rehabbed Derrick Rose? The American Airlines Arena will be hot tonight as these two Eastern conference foes go at it.

Make sure to join us right after the game on 560 WQAM for reaction and lively conversation!

Freeman and Fox Podcast 05.15; Heat 94 Bulls 91

For a brief moment in tonights game, one would have thought that the Bulls just simply said “f- – – it, let’s just get this over and go home.” It seemed so as the Miami Heat got out to a 22-8 lead in the first few minutes. But then the Chicago Bulls do what they’ve been doing all season and that’s fight back.

And fight they did, all the way until the final buzzer. Down by three, failed 3 point attempts by Nate Robinson, Jimmy Butler and Rip Hamilton sealed the fate for the scrappy walking dead team from the Windy City.

Heat 94 Bulls 91.

The Miami Heat now await the winner of the Pacers/Knicks series.

On tonights podcast we discuss the win, plus a look around the NBA.

The Miami Heat get another blow out win tonight versus a Chicago Bulls team that looks like their spirits have been broken. No Deng, no Heinrich and of course no Rose tonight, and again the Miami Heat takes advantage.

Even with the Heat a game away from going back to the Eastern Conference finals for a 3rd year in a row, the conversation today will once again be about how Dwyane Wade and his knee and his fashion choices continue to baffle Heat fans.

We discuss that topic plus we talk with Mike Wallace of ESPN.com.

Joakim Noah gets the bird

Joakim Noah had had enough of the refs calls against his team. So much that he got kicked out of the game in the fourth quarter for yelling at the refs. In cased you missed the way he was escorted to the locker room….

Taj Gibson get ejected from Bulls/Heat game 3 (video)

One minute they are beating the Heat in game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semi Finals and partying with Lil Wayne, and then tonight happens.

Things got real hot in the Heat’s house on Wednesday night. 9 technical fouls. 1 flagrant. 2 ejections in 20 seconds! And a bird in the face of Joakim Noah after he got ejected.

Here’s how Taj Gibson ended his night.

Now Weezy’s Slurping Da Bulls

waynebulls Hey Chicago Bulls you know ya’ll done effed up now right ? The “Menace II Society” movie line has to come to mind after watching the Bulls defeat the Miami Heat in Game one of the eastern conference semi final series on Monday night 93-86. So instead of being happy and keeping a low profile the Bulls may have incurred the wrath of Heat Nation even further as they were spotted hanging with notorious Heat hater Lil Wayne. Probably not a good idea when one considers that the diminutive rapper recently claimed to have knocked boots with Chris Bosh’s wife. Yep it may be some slow singin’ and flower bringin’ after game 2 tonight.

About Jeff Fox

Jeff is a diehard Laker and Raider fan, but he supports the Canes, Marlins, Heat and Dolphins just the same. Jeff honed his radio skills as a host in the Bahamas on ZNS 3. After moving to Miami, he has also held it down on radio and in the club circuit, going by the name DJ Jeff Fox “In the Box”!

Oh Derrick, Oh Derrick, please come out to play?!

The Chicago Bulls find themselves in a must win game 7, on the road in Brooklyn to try and continue in these NBA Playoffs. With a team that is breaking down physically and who is need of a spark off the bench, there is one thing that is for sure about this team as they face elimination. Derrick Rose is healthy enough to play.

Let’s take a look at the Bulls as they stand today.

Plantar_Fasciitis1Joakim Noah has plantar fasciitis, which is described as is a painful inflammatory process of the plantar fascia, the connective tissue on the sole (bottom surface) of the foot. Aside from the big words, Noah, as much as I despise him as a Bulls player has been playing through pain and is giving it up for his team, team mates, fans and the organization.

Derrick Rose is healthy enough to play though

Luol Deng had a spinal tap procedure done to test for viral meningitis. What is a spinal tap? It’s defined as “it is a lumbar puncture to collect and look at the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord.” This sounds eerily similar to the epidural procedure women get done in preparation for child birth. Deng is a game time decision for Saturdays game 7 versus the Nets.

Derrick Rose, though, is healthy.

Kirk Heinrich has a bruised calf. Taj Gibson got a case of the chills while sitting on the bench Wednesday night. You saw him right? He was sitting a few seats down from Nate Robinson who had a towel over his head, hugging a trashcan.

Let me remind you in case you didn’t see…

But Derrick Rose is doing this….

rose2

Before you think I’m piling on D Rose or “hating” as you guys like to throw around, let me say this. I’m one of the few people that understands that  athletes and the mental edge that they need to do what they do is paramount about all else. Most people just think that sports figures are just barbarians who get out there and just throw, run and catch!

I understand it when Rose says “he will come back when God tells him he’s ready”. I can empathize with him if doesn’t think he’s mentally in check yet. I GET IT DERRICK. However…there comes a time when you’ve got to, pardon the cliche “get over the hump”! Your boys Taj, Noah, Deng and Kirk (and maybe Nate) are bussin their asses for the team right now. Reports say that you are killin these boys in practice. They say you’ve got the lift. The burst. The speed. Well..why can’t you get over the hump and take it to the court? When will you let the demons of the past go instead of

There have been “reports” of Rose not liking the team around him and won’t come back until the team makes wholesale changes in the off season. Word is that when the team released the information that he was medically cleared, Rose didn’t like that move and has continued sitting out in some sore of protest.

All of these rumors and street talk is juicy for sports radio and columnist, but what it really boils down to is that Rose must look within himself and overcome whatever it is he needs to overcome to get back on the court.  His city needs him. The fans need him. But more importantly, his team needs him. They have been there for him, not it’s his turn. Someone needs to tell him that he won’t be alone. Unless he’s
