Miami Dolphins Sign Samson Satele

Looks like the center position is still in limbo as of right now.

With Mike Pouncey out for at least 8 games and some inconsistency plaguing the position at training camp, the Phins brought back a former draftee to help fill in the void at the position until further notice.

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins have signed center Samson Satele and waived guard Samuel Longo, the team announced.

The 6-3, 300-pound Satele re-joins the Dolphins in 2014 after spending the previous five seasons with the Oakland Raiders (2009-11) and Indianapolis Colts (2012-13). Over his seven year NFL career he has appeared in 102 games, starting 98. Satele was the second of two second-round draft choices (60th overall) of the Dolphins in the 2007 NFL Draft. During his two seasons in Miami (2007-08), Satele started 32 regular season games and one playoff game for the Dolphins. He was traded to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for an undisclosed draft choice on March 23, 2009, and he started 42 of the 46 games over the course of the next three seasons. Following his time in Oakland he signed with Indianapolis as an unrestricted free agent on March 21, 2012, where he started 24 regular season and three playoff games for the Colts.

A four-year letter winner at Hawaii, Satele started all 53 games he played during his collegiate career, a streak that was the longest among active players in college football in 2006. As a senior he served as one the Warriors tri-captain while earning first-team All-Western Athletic Conference recognition. Born November 29, 1984 in Kailua, Hawaii, Satele attended Kailua High School in Kailua, Hawaii.
