Miami Dolphins Lose in Week 1. What Else is New?

7 times the Miami Dolphins have faced the Houston Texans. 7 times they’ve come up short. Although a lot of people thought and knew that the Phins couldn’t win on the road, with a rookie starting at quarterback against a top defense in the league, it was great to see them hang in there for 24 minutes in the first half.

Ryan Tannehill shrunk in the pocket (literally and figuratively) as he tried to lead the Dolphins to their first win over the Texans. He went 20-36, 219 yards and 3 interceptions. For most of the first and second quarter, the Phins were holding on to what could have been a close game. Then all of sudden Tannehill started shrinking in the pocket. Hitting the Texans offensive lineman in the hands about 3 times, with 2 of them leading to interceptions. Other than the int’s, the rookie showed some signs of being good.

The running backs seem to have fresh legs in this early season. Reggie Bush who is the only weapon on the team, looked like the Reggie of last year. Marcus Thigpen returned a kickoff for 72 yards, and can be used in the run game as well. Javorskie Lane had a good run, and if it wasn’t for Daniel Thomas getting knocked out of the game, he was on his way to having a decent day.

The Dolphin defense had it’s moments. But for some reason they can’t seem to be able to contain tight ends and star receivers on the other teams.

The truth of the matter is this team isn’t that great and the front office hasn’t done much to help their young rookie. With Oakland, New York Jets, Cincinnati, @ Arizona, @Cincinnati, and St. Louis coming up, surely the Phins can steal 2-3 away in the next 5 weeks.

Stay tuned…
