Good for you Boston Red Sox for apologizing on Tuesday morning, a day after the Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones said he was called racist names and had stuff thrown at him from some idiots in the stands at Fenway Park on Monday night.
“The Red Sox want to publicly apologize to Adam Jones and the entire Orioles organization for what occurred at Fenway Park Monday night,” read a statement from team president Sam Kennedy. “No player should have an object thrown at him on the playing field, nor be subjected to any kind of racism at Fenway Park. The Red Sox have zero tolerance for such inexcusable behavior, and our entire organization and our fans are sickened by the conduct of an ignorant few. Such conduct should be reported immediately to Red Sox security, and any spectator behaving in this manner forfeits his/her right to remain in the ballpark, and may be subject to further action. Our review of last night’s events is ongoing.” I commend the Red Sox for coming out and aggressively denouncing these ignorant actions by these fools.
After Monday night’s 5-2 Orioles win Jones said “A disrespectful person threw a bag of peanuts at me and I got called the N-word a handful of times.”
“It’s unfortunate that people need to resort to those type of epithets to degrade another human being,” he said.
According to Jones this is not the first time that this has happened. Sadly i think racism affects every facet of life in this great land of ours. No matter the profession, what walk of life, it does not matter. Many of us have had our days at the office when you felt the way Adam Jones did last night. I know i have felt the hate from a Program Director in the radio business right here in Miami. He knows who he is , i won’t give him the dignity of being acknowledged. Just know this Adam Jones, you are not alone. The good thing is love always triumphs over hate in the end. Love always wins. Kudos to Red Sox nation for the love they showered on Adam Jones Tuesday night. Message sent. Boston is better than that.
