Buffalo Ended the Dolphins Playoff Dreams
For all intents and purposes Buffalo ended the Dolphins playoff dreams by beating Miami 24-16. The best Miami can finish the season is 8-8 and with 2 games left and 2 games out of the wildcard hunt, the Dolphins have very little to look forward to except next year. Next year, the theme Dolphin fans have been saying for way too long.
In a stark contrast to the perfect game Miami played against New England, the Dolphins were once again their alter ego. Jay Cutler who was close to perfect just a week ago was anything but this week. Cutler threw three second half interceptions and he also fumbled four times. Cutler was 28 for 49 with 274 yards and was sacked three times. Kenyan Drake ran for 78 yards on 16 carries while Jarvis Landry led the team with 10 receptions for 99 yards.
After the game Cutler was asked if the season was frustrating for him. He responded by saying, “I think anybody that loses games gets frustrated. I think it’s hard not to say. I love playing with these guys. We have a great coaching staff. We have a lot of talent there and it makes it fun to go to work. Even though we lost this game, the guys were out there fighting to the last play.”
The Miami defense couldn’t contain Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Taylor’s ability to scramble around and create plans has always caused havoc for Miami. Containment was an issue all game.
After the game Bobby McCain talked about trying to contain Taylor, “He’s a good athlete. He’s a good quarterback. He uses his feet really well getting out of the pocket. He’s better scrambling. We couldn’t contain him, we didn’t contain him, we didn’t do our job, and that’s going to be one of our plans to input. We’ve just got to come out and execute the next time we play them.”
Miami has two games left to get their season finished at 8-8. They next play the Chiefs on Christmas Eve.
