College Football is here!!! and so is “Wrong Way Parker”

College football is here, and Andre Parker has given us something that will probably last throughout this whole season.

Kent State player Andre Parker was excited and ready for this football season to start. So much so that he got a ball on a punt and instead of running it into his own end zone for a touchdown, he decided to run the other direction and give his team worse field position.

Texans fan dies at Reliant Stadium

Nothing is worse than going out to enjoy a sporting activity and having to experience death. One time is too many, and now for the second time in a thirteen months we have another story of a fan dying from a fall at a stadium.

A man fell to his death from an escalator at the Texans’ preseason finale Thursday.

The 45-year-old fan allegedly was trying to slide down the outside of the handrail, according to the report, when he fell and landed on the pavement three stories below.

CBS Houston reported the man, whose identity is unknown, was rushed to Memorial Hermann Southwest and pronounced dead on arrival. The station cited sources in saying the fan was under the influence of alcohol.
We all remember Shannon Stone,  a firefighter who was attending a Texas Rangers game in Arlington last July died when he fell from the left field stands while reaching for a baseball tossed his way by All-Star outfielder Josh Hamilton.
Drink, be merry, and have a great time at games. Be careful as well.

Metta World Peace is a doctor

…for a few hours.

Here’s Ron-Ron and some unidentified woman going to what looks like a costume party in Hollywood somewhere. Interesting choice of costuming for Ron.

Dolphins Guard Eric Steinbach quits

It was foreshadowed on Tuesday nights Hard Knocks show, and it has come to a reality.

Eric Steinbach has decided to retire. He’s missed all of last season with a back injury, and was desperately trying to get back to playing form all training camp.

Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel reports

Steinbach, a former Pro Bowl player who has started all but one of the 125 games he’s played, was signed with the belief he’d compete for the starting right guard spot. But he only practiced as a right guard once because he’d spent all of his career on the left side.

Steinbach played like a marginal backup in his one game with the Dolphins, and he missed the past week of practice, and Friday’s 23-17 loss to the Falcons because of tendinitis in his knees.

Philbin showed genuine care for Steinbach in Tuesday’s episode. He’s been coaching him since his college days at Iowa.

Chad Johnson owes St. Maarten for botched wedding

When it rains, it pours.

Marriage? Done. Job? Fired. Endorsements? Dropped. VH1 checks? Cancelled. And now this for Chad Johnson.

I remember when Star Jones basically had a free wedding to Al Reynolds. She was on “The View” giving shoutouts to all of the companies who donated things to her wedding.

If the common man working 9-5 has to shell out $15-30k for a wedding to a woman he’s courted for years, why shouldn’t multi millionaires pay for their lavish weddings? I’m not mad at St. Maarten for trying to get some free advertising.

Oklahoma 5 year old made to turn Michigan t-shirt inside out

I’m all for communities having pride in their professional and or big college team that is either in the area or miles away. But sometimes team colors can blind even the people who we trust to teach and bring up our kids at school.

Thus was the case of Cooper Barton, a kindergartner in Oklahoma.

Young Cooper Barton wore his favorite Michigan shirt to Wilson Elementary in Oklahoma City and was told it violated the Oklahoma City Public Schools dress code and was asked to turn the shirt inside out. According to the dress code, students are only allowed to wear Oklahoma, Oklahoma State or apparel from another Oklahoma state school. Everything else is a violation (especially Texas).

“They should really worry about academics. It wasn’t offensive. He’s 5,” Cooper’s mother Shannon Barton said.

I agree mom. It’s especially disheartening that this came from an entity that is in charge of academics city wide.

This is a perfect situation for a University of Michigan big wig to step in and offer this family a full ride scholarship if Cooper decides to go to Ann Arbor.

Lebron James sneaker for $315?? Nah….

Yeaaaa.

Nike’s new LeBron X will retail for $315 when it hits stores this fall, up $145 from his last shoe that came out earlier this year.

This is just flat out ridiculous. I remember paying $80-100 back in the day for some Nike Huarache’s, and that was a lot back in the 90′s. Today, I’d rather pay a bill. Why is Nike charging so much for some shoes?

Nike attributes the price hike to rising labor costs in China and a jump in cotton prices.

Nike would be smart to look to move their operations somewhere else, no? But hey..it’s Nike…they are the kings so we will buy them. Not me, but you!

What does Lebron James have to say about the price increase?
