Dwyane Wade will miss 2012 Olympics

He made the right decision. Or should I say the doctors made the right decision for him.

Miami Heat captain Dwayne Wade will sit out this summer and not take part in the 2012 Olympics in London.

He confirmed today that he will have any necessary surgery on his knees and rest up for what many think can be a repeat bid to win an NBA title with the “Heatles”.

Wade informed USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo and coach Mike Krzyzewski Thursday that he wasn’t healthy enough to play for Team USA.

Wade played through the injury in the playoffs and still managed to average 22.6 points per game during the NBA Finals.

I think it’s the right thing to do. He’s already got a gold medal, and for an athlete who’s sports is yearly, championships are probably more important than gold.

Carmelo Anthony “plays possum” in wax

New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony recently takes time out of his schedule to act like a wax statue in Time Square a few days ago.

Check out how he scares some unsuspecting museum goers.

Nike and Jus Fly jaw dropping Dunk

This. Is. A. Dunk.

The way the All Star game Dunk contest is going, the NBA should let amateurs into the contest just to see what they can do.

Check out Jus Fly, dunking at the Nike+ Basketball event. Apparently the shoes provide feedback to your iPhone about your vertical, hustle and quickness.

Sure.

Amare Stoudemire gets fined for using gay slur

Just when things were looking good for Amare and we were beginning to forget “extinguisher gate“, he messes up on the most public of forums.

Seems that “Stat” has grown tired of people talking about his game, his life, and his team. A fan lashed out on Twitter that he needed to “step his game up”.

Stat lashed out back “F— you, I don’t have to do anything f—–“. The last word isn’t the same as the first word, nor is it “fruitcake”.

The NBA got wind of the whole thing and fined him $50k.

Damn they taking money from my man’s wedding stash.

Lebron James top 10 NBA Finals plays

Lebron James made a lot of great plays during the finals. When I first looked at this video I figured it would just be plays from game 6 in the Eastern Conf. finals when the Heat were down 3-2.

But I misread the title as I often do things, and it’s not of the playoffs, but of the finals.

Sit back relax and enjoy Lebron’stop 10 plays of the Finals.

Gatorade salutes Dwyane Wade

Great job by the folks at Gatorade. Showing all of the articles from writers that doubted D-Wade and what he brought to the table in this NBA Finals run.

If anything, playing with a bum knee and dealing with family issues should make folks shut their mouths about this guy and what he can do. But it probably won’t even when he does it again.

Props to the people at Gatorade for the add though. Now that’s G.

Taj Gibson’s ugly birthday cake

I will give the cake creator credit for “creativity”. But Taj Gibson’s 27th birthday cake his best friend had made for him is borderline wack.

Outside of Taj, his team mates and Bulls fans who remember that moment, who cares. It was two years ago, and ended up being a highlight in a meaningless Eastern Conference run that ended with the Bulls losing in 5 games.

Enjoy the moment Taj. It may have been the highlight of your NBA career thus far.

I”m only posting the dunk for entertainment purposes only..

Don’t I sound like a cocky Heat fan that just left the championship parade and celebration on South Beach?

Juwan Howard and Jalen Rose postgame

Anytime an athlete wins a championship on a professional level, they think back to the others that didn’t win one with them. Getting to win a championship is hard work, and there plenty people to thank. Coaches and players from little league to college to the pros can all share in solace that one of their own won a championship.

When it comes to Juwan Howard and his seventeen year journey to become a champion, this thought is more than likely prevalent. Howard was a member of the famed “Fab Five” from the University of Michigan. They never won a national championship, but changed the way many view and play college basketball today.

One of his team mates on that squad was Jalen Rose, now ESPN NBA analyst. Howard spoke
about how much this championship meant to him and them.

Jalen was in Miami on Thursday night as Juwan got his ring. Here’s their embrace.

Jolinda Wade (Dwyane’s mom) speaks on her son’s adversity (video)

Dwyane Wade has had a rough 5 days, and I’m not speaking of the NBA Finals.

Even while trying to win his second NBA Championship, he was faced with dealing with issues involving his ex wife and his sons.

Luckily everything worked out for the best, as Wade was reunited with his sons for Fathers day, and in game 3 that night he went out and dropped 25-7-7 on the OKC Thunder.

His mom talked to us about where he gets his strength from…

Udonis Haslem’s locker room celebration (video)

He’s given up about $20 million to stay in Miami.

He lost his grandmother and mother in the last few years.

He hasn’t been healthy nor has he been an offensive threat the last two years as he’s been in the past.

Through all of that, Udonis never gave up the fight to get back to the NBA Finals and win it all again. Today he is a two time champion.
